On October 18th, we launched the first of it's kind Lambeth Esports Academy at Yellow Cube, Tulse Hill. We wanted to take our set-up to the next level by providing fully structured training masterclasses, so our young people would have everything they need to hone their skills and fully pursue their passion. Running every Wednesday 6-8pm, we've so far focussed on Fortnite - it's the most popular with our attendees, and the pro scene is huge - but we're planning other games to feature soon. We have access to a huge learning platform, working in partnership with Esports Coaching Academy, from which we structure our sessions around different interactive activities. This has included themes of teamwork (check the snap below of the start of a heated relay Noughts & Crosses game!), communicating, goal-setting, preparation, warm-ups and more.
The Esports Academy is supported by the Changing Lives Social Value Fund, a social value initiative run by Lambeth council and we're so grateful for Lambeth council's continued support. The news of this launch has already been picked up in the media with Esports Insider reporting on us here: https://esportsinsider.com/2023/10/lambeth-esports-academy-council
In another first for EYC, we've announced a partnership with Esports AI coaching platform Omnic.ai which will give students access to Omnic’s AI training tools in several games.
Omnic.ai is the company behind Forge, an esports training tool that uses AI to analyse matches in Fortnite and VALORANT and provide players with information on where to improve and how. Forge can help professionals and amateurs alike and give them exact information on how to get better at games.
The feedback from our young people on the Academy so far has been overwhelmingly positive and we've got some really exciting plans in this space going forwards - a session building a brand new Gaming PC and some group visits at some huge esports events in the Capital! As always, don't forget to keep tabs on all the action by following us on Instagram @esportsyouthclub.
